The first weeks of 2018 were horrifying for students and families with high school students. 23 school shootings in the first 21 weeks of 2018 were at least 1 person was hurt or killed according to CNN. As a 10th grade student attending high school this is scary to me and many other students in America. This is why the The Marigold Project was founded.

The Marigold Project is a foundation that was established in 2017 by Nathaniel Rateliff and on October 13th, 2018. There was an event called “Not One More” that included gun violence prevention panels, workshops and a concert from Nathaniel Rateliff. After attending this event it was made apparent to me that mass school shootings are just a one on a million occurrence, they’re becoming an American custom and we are making a stand against it.

Students all across America are protesting laws around access to guns and firearms and foundations like the Marigold Project are fighting against these issues.
