Thursday, September 27th our girls varsity softball team won against Denver West 29-9. This game was very important to our team and many other people. It was our cancer game. Our cancer game was to honor everyone battling cancer and those who have passed because of cancer.
Before the game, our coach took the time to talk about cancer and to dedicate our game to those affected by cancer. After his speech, every girl on our team who has been affected by cancer was given a rose and went up to talk about the person they knew who had or has cancer. After our players went up the coach of Denver West went up and said a few words followed by some of his players who also talked about people in their lives that had or currently have cancer.
After this, we started our game. We began with lots of energy and we were all really excited to play. We took the field first. We had a rough first inning and gave up a lot of runs but when we went up to bat we had great hits. Going into the second inning we played much better in the field and continued to hit really well. Some girls on the team hit home runs which boosted our energy even more and in the field we were quick to get three outs. After our win of 29-9, we were all super excited and happy to have a win at our cancer game.
