Hoops for Heart

On March 15, 2019, Northfield High School will be holding a basketball tournament. Teams of three to six students for three on three games will be entered into the competition to compete against teachers and have the opportunity to win t-shirts. In the final game, four teams will play in front of the school. During the halftime of the last game, Mr. Kersten’s son, Tristen, will share his story about how he received a new heart as a child.

In order to participate in the competition, you must have a team with three to five members, along with a payment of $30. All proceeds will go to the American Heart Association. Students who are involved in the competition will be pulled out of class to participate in the tournament. For the final round, the whole school will come to watch.

If you are interested, there is a sign-up sheet in the office. More players are needed, so come and participate to support a good cause! Tickets need to be bought by March 11th. The school is trying to raise at least $1,000 to donate to the American Heart Association.

The American Heart Association is also holding a CPR and First Aid Certification training event on March 2nd from 8 a.m. t0 12 p.m. In this class, you will learn CPR/AED along with first aid basics. Please RSVP if you will be attending the event. The cost is $20, cash, check or card, to be paid at the event. The American Heart Association certification is good for two years.
