On February 3rd, 26-year-old rapper and producer Shayaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, better known by his alias 21 Savage, was taken into custody of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). 21 Savage began rapping in 2013 and since then has made a proper name for himself. He is a Grammy nominated artist for his collaboration on Post Malone’s song, “Rockstar”. He is very prominent in Atlanta’s underground hip-hop scene and many fans fear his deportation.

It became recently known to the public that Savage was actually born in the UK and was brought to the U.S at the young age of 7. His parents failed to renew his visa in 2006 and since then he had been living in the U.S. illegally. In 2017 he tried to apply for a U-visa but as of now, it is still pending. After his arrest, 21 Savage managed to be granted bond and his lawyers confirmed that as of February 13 he has been released from custody. However, 21 Savage isn’t out of the clear yet. Savage still does not have a Visa and is still in danger of being deported but his lawyers are working hard on his case and hopefully Savage will be able to become a citizen of America.
