Jamal Murray: He Has the Glory And He Wants More
November 9, 2018
On Monday November 5, 2018, the Denver Nuggets, a team that scored itself some luck, played the Boston Celtics, one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference. In a surprising game, the Celtics were defeated by the Nuggets 115-107.
Denver could have just let it go. Jamal Murray should’ve been a little more sportsmanlike. But he made his choice. After scoring 48 points in the game and taking the lead by 7 points, Murray decided he needed the extra points, not for the teams benefit, for his own benefit. In the last 20 seconds of the game, completely unguarded, Murray attempted a three pointer to end the game with 51 points.
This selfish behavior riled up the Boston Celtics and all fans of the team. Kyrie Irving, who ended the game with 31 points, threw the ball into the stands. While it wasn’t the best thing to do, Irving’s actions showed how awful and unnecessary Jamal Murray’s final attempt at a three pointer was. He ended the game with a career high, got a bit big headed and acted unsportsmanlike as he basked in the slice of glory he had gotten.
